SEVENTEEN: BABYLON

Nimrod was the first Antichrist leading a unified world in rebellion against God. The Rebellion was orchestrated through the city of Babel, the first Babylon. God broke Babel apart and dispersed the people over the earth both physically and linguistically in order to prevent men from uniting as one. From one large Babel hundreds of smaller Babels emerged under different names around the planet. From that time every kingdom, every nation that was spawned from Babel has been competing against each other to be the next world ruler, the king of all earth.

Babylon is more than false religion.
Babylon uses sorcery to deceive all the nations of the world into following and serving her. Revelation 18:23
Every government and every leader of every government will place their faith in Babylon saving mankind instead of in Jesus Christ which is why Babylon rules them all. Revelation 17:18 and 18:9-10. That is the core of all false religions. Babylon is world government controlling all other governments and their armies. Babylon is comprised of soldiers from every nation. Revelation 17:6, Revelation 18:24 and Revelation 18:3 Babylon is commerce, a world wide economic system. Revelation 18:11-19

What is Babylon? Babylon is a city that represents all cities.

Cities are the center of religion.
Cities are the center of human government.
Cities are the center of commerce.

This unification of people into a single metropolis, a single man made government, was in direct violation of God's command to Adam and Eve, to Noah and Noah's descendants to multiply and fill the earth. The inference is to disperse oneself and not to congregate. If you look around the world you find all of the false religions, the inventions of evil, the manifestation and flaunting of virtually every sin, the injustice toward and exploitation of the poor, lawlessness, the use of usury, the corruption of government and the destruction of the land in every major city of the world.

Every kingdom was birthed from the original Babylon, the original Babylon that has continued on to this day and until her end comes.

Chapters 17 and 18 of Revelation describe the end-time Babylon as the “Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.”

Revelation 17:18 explicitly identifies Babylon as a great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.

Babylon is more than the false religions of the world as many scholars claim. Babylon is the man made city, government, kingdom, economy and religion that has been in rebellion against God for the last 4,300 years or so since the time of Nimrod. Babylon has existed under one name or another; under one disguise or another; either openly or behind the scenes as a shadow government since the original came into being under Nimrod through the present.

Babylon is currently reigning over the kings, the prime ministers and the presidents of the nations of the world.

Satan is the true power behind the kingdoms of the world. It is Satan who gives the kingdoms of the world to whom he chooses, and therefore those men, whether knowingly or in ignorance, who are more bent to acknowledge Satan or who are more malleable towards Satan's plans are the ones more likely to be placed as the head of kingdom, a nation under the umbrella of all nations. Satan places his followers, the fallen angels, in charge of individual kingdoms of the world as subservient governors and princes. These fallen agents influence the leaders of these nations to carry Satan's plan of rebellion against God Almighty and His Son Jesus Christ. And yet among themselves, just like their human counterparts, the fallen angels compete against one another for the more powerful and wealthier nations within the Satan's kingdom. The Prince of Persia, a fallen angel was overthrown by the Prince of Greece another fallen angel. Their purposes and goal carried out in the physical realm through their human agents, the King of Persia and the King of Greece. Just as there was war in heaven there is war on earth. But the warfare for the Christian is spiritual not carnal.

Daniel's interpretation of the statue in King Nebuchadnezzar's dream is a perfect example of one nation desiring to be ruler of the earth only to be knocked off by the next challenger. First there was Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon which was overthrown by the Medes & Persians; the Medes & Persians were then overthrown by Greece; Greece in turn was overthrown by Rome; the Roman Empire under the Papal reign lasted over a thousand years to 1806 when overthrown by Napoleon and the French. Since that time the two feet of Daniel's statue containing a mixture of iron and clay have been ruling the world. These two feet of iron and clay represent the united nations of the world in which some nations are strong like iron and others are weak like clay, yet united together they rule the world as one governing body. The iron and clay are also representative of the degree of unity that nations will have for each other; some will be more united, more tightly bound together than others.

For instance the United States and Britain are strong like iron and united. Though not as strong of an alliance as that of the U.S. and the U.K. Russia and China have an alliance and both are strong like iron. It is self evident that Russia and the U.S. are not allies and therefor not bonded together. One could say the U.S. is on one foot of Daniel's statue while Russia is on the other. Additionally the U.S. has an alliance with the Philippines yet the Philippines is a weak nation like clay and therefore the bond between the two is weak. One and all are apart of the United Nations, the one world government. Just as the League of Nations was a forerunner to the United Nations the United Nations incarnation of Babylon is most likely the forerunner to an even more unified and powerful world government to come.

The ten toes of Daniel's statue, Daniel 2:41-44, are representative of the ten leading nations and kings that dictate the course of the world's nations pictured again in Revelation 17 as the ten horns on the beast. These kings will arise out of the beast and actually destroy the man made government Babylon that rides upon the power of the beast, that is achieves its status and power to rule from the beast even though man kind does not want to acknowledge this fact. These ten kings will destroy the United Nations, the world government and world financial institutions and world religion on scene at the appointed time. These same ten kings are illustrated from a different perspective in Daniel chapter 7 as ten horns coming out of the beast.

It is proposed that the seven heads of the beast in Revelation 17 have dual representation that of the seven world wide satanically possessed dictators as well as those kingdoms as whole entities associated with those dictators. The seven heads are both the actual men who have ruled the various incarnations of Babylon and the actual kingdoms of Babylon. Nimrod was the first and therefore the first to fall. Four fell after him and one was ruling when John penned these words in Revelation 17. The one ruling was most likely Domitian who actually gave himself the official title “God the Lord.” No doubt Nimrod was attempting to lift himself above he Most High. Nebuchadnezzar and the king of Tyre suffered from the same delusion of self grandeur which seems to afflict most if not all who rise to positions of power in Satan's kingdom. See Daniel chapters 3 and 4; Isaiah 14:3-27 and Ezekiel 28:1-19

Not to be outdone King Darius followed suit and issued a decree that no person should pray to any god or man except himself. This decree was brought forth by the satanic influence of the royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors withing King Darius' kingdom. Through the use of spiritual warfare by God's servant Daniel and the angel who came to Daniel's aid, the satanic goal was repelled and those who initiated it were destroyed. Daniel chapter 6.

Interestingly, the Pope of the Catholic Church has taken on the title of “Vicar of Christ.” Catholics claim he is Christ's sole representative on earth and therefore is infallible in his subjective understanding of truth and therefore the edicts he issues must be followed even if they appear contrary to the truths found in the Bible.
Babylon is a city, a single entity that rules over the nations of the world. Babylon is man's government and religion without God.

In Revelation 12 we see Satan's spiritual kingdom represented as a beast with seven heads and ten horns.

In Revelation 13:1 we see the human representation of Satan's spiritual kingdom manifested on earth as a beast with seven heads and ten horns. This is the kingdom of the Antichrist.

In Revelation 13:11-13 we see another beast that represents false religion and how it works with false government. In the relationship of the Antichrist and the false prophet God is revealing how government and religion are inextricably intertwined. There is no such thing as the separation of church and state.

In Revelation 17 we see Babylon riding the Antichrist beat, using the power and authority of Satan to obtain great wealth and power over the people of the world.

The kings of he earth and the merchants of the earth were made powerful and rich through Babylon by fornicating with Babylon. By putting their faith in man's institutions and not God's.

The dragon gave him, (the Antichrist), his power, and his seat, and great authority. Revelation 13:2

Satan gives the Antichrist his power.

Babylon is man's attempt at self rule under self government and self religion.
The Antichrist uses Babylon to rise to power in the kingdoms of men.
Babylon has risen six times and one is yet to come, the last one.
The kings of the earth fornicate with Babylon in order to obtain authority and power over men.
The merchants of the earth use Babylon obtain great wealth for themselves and their friends.
Ten end time kings receive power from the Antichrist and reign with him and serve him for one hour.

The Antichrist and the ten kings serving the Antichrist betray turn on Babylon and destroy Babylon; man's one world government, one world religion and one world economy. Revelation 17:16-18 Satan uses and exploits Babylon to deceive the people of the world into serving his interests. He seduces the people of the world into falsely believing that they can obtain peace, security and happiness by ruling themselves according to their own ideas of right and wrong. The Antichrist and the ten kings serving the Antichrist betray turn on Babylon and destroy Babylon; man's one world government, one world religion and one world economy. Revelation 17:16-18 Satan uses and exploits Babylon to deceive the people of the world into serving his interests. He seduces the people of the world into falsely believing that they can obtain peace, security and happiness by ruling themselves according to their own ideas of right and wrong.

"They, the whole world, worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?" Revelation 13:4

Government is religion, it is the religion of Satan the Devil.

Whether they realize it or not, the people of the world who have submitted to the serving Babylon have in fact submitted to serving the Antichrist and Satan the Devil. No doubt some know what they are doing believing some false interpretation of who Satan is and the spiritual realities and others are just blinded by the blind guides, sheep being led to the slaughter naively believing in the falsehood of innate human goodness would seek their harm and ultimate doom.

Babylon cannot be solely the mother of false religions for the false prophet continues on after Babylon's fall still exists perpetuating false worship ob the people of the world.

The two feet of iron and clay in Daniel's statue, Daniel chapter 2, represent the kingdom, the empire, the Babylon that will be in existence when Jesus returns to earth.

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." Romans 1:18-32
